Before using this AT&T product, please read the Important safety instructions on pages 51-53 of this manual. CID Delete call summary entries AM To delete a single call summary entry CID 2. Press CID the CID or DIR keys to find the entry you want to delete, then press CHAN/DELETE. When the entry AM 3. CHAN/DELETE To delete all call summary entries To clear your call summary completely, press and hold CHAN/DELETE while the phone is idle (not in use). If you select yes, the call summary will be cleared and the screen will return to normal standby display, and the missed calls counter is reset to 0. AM - OR- AM 1. CHAN/DELETE NOTES: 1. MENU/SEL then CID or DIR AM Both the caller's name and telephone number will be entered as they appear in the call summary. At steps 3-4, you can make any changes to the name or number by pressing CHAN/DELETE to erase characters, then use the dial pad to enter the correct information (see pages 23-24 for instructions). When the number is stored, the screen returns to the call summary display. The entry copied to your telephone directory remains in the call summary until deleted. 3. MENU/SEL AM Entry added to phone directory 32 Answering system operation Message capacity The answering system can record up to 95 messages depending on the length of each message. Individual messages can be up to four minutes Message counter Number of messages (or during playback, message number currently playing) minutes. Voice prompts Each time you press any answering system key, the answering system uses voice prompts to guide you. Press repeatedly to hear setup options (page 36). Press to review or record announcement; press again to quit (page 35). Press to adjust playback volume (page 37). Press to review or set clock (page 34). Press to delete message currently playing; press and hold to delete all old messages (page 37). Press to repeat message; press twice to play previous message (page 37). Press to start or stop message playback (page 37). Press to skip a message (page 37). 33 Answering system operation Day & time announcements To set day and time Before playing each message, the answering system announces the day and time when the message was received. 1. CLOCK. The system will announce the current clock setting, then announces "To set the clock, press CLOCK. " 2. CLOCK. Before using the answering system, follow the steps on the left of this page to set the day, time and year, so that messages are dated correctly. If the clock is not set, before new messages are recorded, the system will announce "Time and day not set" before each message is played back. Each time you press SKIP or REPEAT , the day, hour, minute or year increases or decreases by one. When you hear the correct setting, press CLOCK The system will announce the current day setting, then announces "To change the day, press SKIP or REPEAT , to change the hour, press CLOCK. " 3. SKIP or REPEAT until the system announces the correct day, then press CLOCK. To check day and time You can press CLOCK at any time to hear the current day and time without changing it. NOTES: 1. You can press and hold SKIP or REPEAT to increase or decrease the minutes or years by ten. 4. SKIP or REPEAT until the system announces the correct hour, then press CLOCK. After you set the time once, it will thereafter The time will be set automatically only if you subscribe to (page 27). until the system announces the correct minute, then press CLOCK. 6. SKIP or REPEAT until the system announces the correct year, then press CLOCK. The system announces the current clock setting. 34 Answering system operation Outgoing announcements Elapsed recording time (in seconds). The outgoing announcement is the message callers hear when calls are answered by the answering system. If the telephone is set up to record messages, it answers calls with "Hello. Please leave a message after the tone. " You can use this announcement, or replace it with a recording of your own voice. Press to stop recording. 1. ANNC. Press PLAY or press RECORD. " To play your outgoing announcement Press ANNC. , you will hear "Announcement. Press ANNC. 2. PLAY/STOP (Plays announcement previously recorded). - OR - To record your outgoing announcement Press ANNC. , then you will hear "Announcement. Press PLAY or press RECORD.
