Connecting the Interface cable is done when installing the driver. 2 1 Install the Drum Unit Assembly Open the top cover of the printer. Top cover 2 1 Remove the protective part from the paper exit of the printer. Protective part Unpack the drum unit assembly. Remove the protective part. Multi-purpose tray Rock it from side to side several times to distribute the toner evenly inside the assembly. 3 Remove the protective part from in the multi-purpose tray. 4 Put the drum unit assembly into the printer. Protective part 4 Close the multi-purpose tray. 5 Close the top cover of the printer. 6 3 Load Paper in the Paper Tray 1 Pull the paper tray completely out of the printer. 4 Fan the stack of paper well to avoid paper jams and misfeeds. 5 Paper tray Load paper into the paper tray. Check that the paper is flat in the tray and below the maximum paper mark. Up to here. Protective part Installing the Driver 7 6 3 While pressing the paper guide release lever, slide the adjusters to fit the paper size. Check that they fit correctly into the slots. Put the paper tray back into the printer. Adjuster Macintosh® Network For Legal size paper, press the universal guide release button and pull out the rear of the paper tray. For Administrator Universal guide release lever Go to the next page Macintosh® USB Paper guide release lever Windows® Network Windows® Parallel 2 Remove the protective part from inside the paper tray. Windows® USB Setting Up Your Printer Step 1 4 Print a Test Page 1 Make sure that the printer power switch is off. Connect the AC power cord to the printer. 5 Setting Your Language on the Control Panel ON OFF 1 2 Plug the AC power cord into an AC outlet. Turn the power switch on. Press the + button until SETUP is displayed. Press the Set button. -- MENU -SETUP 2 ON OFF Press the Set button again. SETUP LANGUAGE 3 After the printer has finished warming up, the READY message appears. Extend the tray extension flap 3 Press the + or ­ button to select your language. Press the Set button to accept. LANGUAGE =ENGLISH * 4 Press the Go button. Check that the test page has printed correctly. Go to the next page to install the driver. 8 Step 2 Installing the Driver Setting Up Your Printer Follow the instructions on this page for your operating system and interface cable.
