When "Plain Paper" is selected in "Media type", bordered printing will be performed even if you select "Borderless" in "Layout". *4 When "A4/8. 5 x 11 (Letter)" is selected in "Page size", you can print in 4-up layout. 62 Printing Photographs Directly From A Digital Camera Chapter 7 About "Layout" and "Trimming" For "Layout", when the "Default setting" (selections based on the machine setting) is selected, the machine operates based on the bordered/borderless setting specified in the Memory card mode of the machine (MP170) or the Fit-to-Page setting when Photo Paper is selected on the Operation Panel of the machine (MP150). Trimming is performed based on settings on the PictBridge-compliant device. Note When printing onto Photo Stickers (PS-101) (16-up), use the following settings. Select "10 x 15 cm / 4" x 6"" for the "Page size", and "Photo" for the "Media type". Some PictBridge compliant devices display the Layout option; 2-up, 4up, 9-up, and 16-up. If there are no options on the PictBridge compliant device that correspond to 2-up, 4up, 9-up, or 16-up, printing on stickers is not possible. Press any button on the Operation Panel except for [ON/OFF] to restore the display. Even though you can select from <5 MINUTES>, <15 MINUTES>, <1 HOUR>, or <8 HOURS> as the time until power save starts, the actual time until power save starts does not change. Note Power saver mode does not start when connecting a digital camera to the computer or inserting a memory card. LANGUAGE SETTING Changes the language for LCD messages: ENGLISH/FRENCH/SPANISH/PORTUGUESE/ GERMAN/ITALIAN/DUTCH/RUSSIAN/DANISH/NORWEGIAN/FINNISH/SWEDISH/ HUNGARIAN/CZECH/SLOVENE/POLISH/JAPANESE 66 Changing The Machine Settings (MP170) Chapter 8 RESTORE DEFAULT Changes the settings back to the default, except for the language for LCD messages and the position of the FINE Cartridge: YES/NO SAVE CONFGURATION Saves the current media settings for the size, type, quality, magnification, intensity and image optimize: YES/NO LOAD CONFGURATION Loads the saved media settings: YES/NO Chapter 8 Changing The Machine Settings (MP170) 67 Chapter 9 Routine Maintenance Replacing A FINE Cartridge If there is no improvement with the quality of printing following such maintenance as FINE Cartridge Cleaning, one of the FINE Cartridges is probably empty. When replacing a FINE Cartridge, check the model number very carefully. The machine will not print properly if the wrong FINE Cartridge is used, or installed incorrectly. Black: PG-40 Black Color: CL-41 Color The FINE Cartridge PG-50 Black (High Yield) and CL-51 Color (High Yield) are also compatible with this machine. Replacing A FINE Cartridge When a FINE Cartridge runs out of ink, replace it using the following steps. 1 Ensure that the machine is turned ON, and then open the Scanning Unit. The FINE Cartridge Holder moves to the left. Pull the Scanning Unit Support down into place. 68 Routine Maintenance Chapter 9 2 Remove the empty FINE Cartridge. (1) (1) Push the FINE Cartridge down. (2) Remove the FINE Cartridge. (2) Important Handle FINE Cartridges carefully to avoid staining your clothes or the surrounding work area. Discard empty FINE Cartridges according to local laws and disposal regulations. Do not touch the transparent film (A), film cable (B), ink absorber (sponge part) (C), or any metal parts. Caution (A) (B) (C) Chapter 9 Routine Maintenance 69 3 Prepare a replacement FINE Cartridge. * (1) * To the Cartridge Holder. (1) Unpack a new FINE Cartridge and remove the Protective Tape. Important Do not reattach the Protective Tape once you have removed it. Handle the removed Protective Tape carefully to avoid getting your hands dirty or staining the surrounding work area once you have removed it.
