Press the same Zoom button again to start the " " indicator moving again. DIGITAL ZOOM Use this function to shoot enlarged images than maximum optical zoom scale. AUTO CAUTION Zoom bar Using the digital zoom allows you to enlarge your subject and shoot it. Set the digital zoom when requiring it. Z Zoom bar display OFF Optical zoom: 5× ON Optical zoom: 5× Digital zoom: approx. 4. 4× * 35 mm camera equivalents 88 How to use the SET-UP menu (p. 83) LCD POWER SAVE The LCD monitor darkens when camera is not used for 10 seconds. When this function is active, you can save power and get the maximum possible running time from your battery. MEMO Pressing any button wakes the camera up. PLAYBACK VOLUME Use this function to adjust volume while playing back movie and voice memo. VOLUME 7 SET CANCEL CAUTION The LCD power save function is disabled during Playback mode and Movie mode. A Press n or o to adjust the volume. B Press MENU/OK to confirm the setting. BRIGHTNESS FORMAT Initialize (format) the xD-Picture Card or internal memory for use with the camera. FORMAT FORMAT OK? 0 SET CANCEL ERASE ALL DATA OK SET CANCEL Place of initialize Y FORMAT: Internal memory \ FORMAT: xD-Picture Card A Press n or o to adjust the LCD monitor brightness. The indicator moves to the + to display the LCD monitor brightly or to the ­ to darken the LCD monitor. B Press MENU/OK to confirm the setting. A Press p or q to select OK. CAUTION The Format function erases all the frames (files), including protected frames (files). Back up important frames (files) onto your PC or another media. 90 How to use the SET-UP menu (p. 83) AUTO POWER OFF When this function is active and the camera remains unused for 2 or 5 minutes, it turns camera off. Use this function when you want to get the maximum possible running time from your battery. CAUTION The Auto power off function is disabled during automatic playback (p. 64), and when a USB connection (p. 95, 106) is being used. TIME DIFFERENCE Use this function when traveling to destinations in different time zones. [. . . ] This can result in you falling down or being involved in a traffic accident.
