[. . . ] This includes, for example, use Range of appliance use • When disconnecting the appliance, pull on the plug, not on the cable. • Any repairs and work on the appliance should only be carried out by the customer service department, as unauthor­sed work could prove i highly dangerous for the user. • Do not allow naked flames or ignition sources to enter the appliance. When transporting and cleaning the appliance ensure that the refrigerant circuit is not damaged. In the event of damage, make sure that there are no ignition sources nearby and keep the room well ventilated. Description of the appliance Operating and control elements Interior light (except GT 1432, GT 2122, GT 2132) • This appliance can be used by children of 8 years old and over, and also by persons with restricted physical, sensory or mental capacity or lack of experience and knowledge, if they are supervised or have been instructed on safe use of the appliance and understand the resulting risks. [. . . ] The position of the type plate is shown in the section entitled Description of the appliance. The tripping current of the fuse must be between 10 A and 16 A. Electrical connection You are recommended to clean the appliance before switching it on for the first time (see "Cleaning"). To switch the appliance on Connect the appliance to the mains > the appliance is switched on. The red alarm lamp goes out as soon as the freezer compartment is cold enough. To switch the appliance off Pull out the mains plug or set the temperature control to 0. Switching the appliance on and off The socket must not be situated behind the appliance and must be easily accessible. Do not connect the appliance using an extension cable or extension socket. Do not use stand-alone inverters (conversion of direct current to alternating current/threephase current) or energy-saving plugs. Risk of damage to the electronic control system! Important - Always ensure good ventilation. - Avoid positioning the appliance in direct sunlight or near cookers, radiators and similar sources of heat. - The energy consumption depends on the installation conditions, e. g. - Keep all food properly packed and covered so as to avoid its frosting up on the outside. - Always allow hot food to cool to room temperature before placing in the appliance. - If there is a thick layer of frost in the appliance: defrost the appliance. Accumulated dust increases the energy consumption: - Regularly clean the motor compartment ventilation openings to keep them free from dust. Saving energy When the temperature control is turned to "0", only the refrigeration system is switched off. Remove the plug. Using a coin, turn the arrow on the temperature control to a setting between 1 und 4. When the control is turned to 4, the temperature inside the appliance is at its lowest. For long-term storage of frozen food a temperature of at least -18°C is recommended. If the chest is filled up to the bottom stacking mark (see "Freezing"), the temperature control can be set to the 1 setting. Setting the temperature Operating and control elements 1 2 3 5 4 Control elements The red alarm lamp comes on if the temperature in the freezer compartment is not cold enough. This can be caused by: • a long power failure; • a fault in the appliance. In each case, make sure food has not defrosted or perished. 1Temperature control 2Operating lamp 3Alarm lamp 4Superfrost button 5Superfrost lamp The "Superfrost" lamp ➎ lights up when the "Superfrost" facility is switched on for freezing large quantities of fresh food (see "Freezing"). 10 The maximum amount of food in kg which can be frozen in 24 hours is shown on the type plate (Freezing capacity). Fresh food should be frozen to the core as rapidly as possible. This is provided by the SuperFrost facility. Freezing • Always store identical food items together. Notes on freezing GB • Pack food which you are freezing yourself in quantities appropriate to your household. To ensure that the food freezes right through, the following quantities should not be exceeded per pack­ ge: a fruit, vegetables: up to 1 kg, meat: up to 2. 5 kg. • Pack frozen food in standard freezer bags or reuseable plastic, metal or aluminium containers. Note The upper stacking limit is the top level of the baskets! • Do not allow fresh food which is to be frozen to come into contact with food already frozen. Always keep packs dry in order to avoid them sticking together. • Always write the date and contents on the pack and do not exceed the stated storage time for the food. If the chest is loaded up to a maximum of 300 mm below the top level of the basket, the appliance can be set to the 1 setting. [. . . ] Please note that noises caused by the refrigerant circuit cannot be avoided. • The temperature is not low enough: - Is the temperature setting correct (see Setting the temperature)?- Does the separately installed thermometer show the correct reading?If none of the above causes apply and you cannot rectify the fault yourself, contact the nearest customer service department stating the type of appliance 1, service number 2and appliance number 3as indicated on the type plate. Do not use any mechanical devices or other artificial aids for defrosting other than those recommended by the manufactur­ r. e Cleaning The position of the type plate is shown in the section entitled Description of the appliance. • Clean the inside, equipment and outer walls with lukewarm water and a little detergent.
