General safety · In the event of a fault, do not attempt to repair the appliance yourself. · If repairs are needed, contact an authorised service centre and ask for genuine spare parts. Children must not be allowed to touch the controls or play with the product. · During high temperature wash cycles the glass door becomes very hot. [. . . ] For synthetics and delicates the water of the last rinse is not emptied out without needing to press RINSE HOLD button. If the water is not emptied out, the machine automatically empties itself after 18 hours. 2 ON/OFF button Press this button to switch the machine on. Press it again to switch the machine off. Programme Option buttons Depending on the programme, different functions can be combined. These must be selected after choosing the desired programme and before depressing the START/PAUSE button. When these buttons are pressed, the corresponding pilot lights come on. If an incorrect option is selected, the pilot lights flash for about 3 seconds. 3 EXTRA RINSE Can be used with all programmes except the wool programme. This option is recommended for people who are allergic to detergents and in areas where the water is very soft. 5 QUICK WASH By pressing this button the washing time is reduced as follows: · by 35 minutes on cotton programme 95°C, · by 52 minutes on cotton programmes 60°C to COLD, · by 24 minutes on synthetic programmes, · by 14 minutes on delicate programmes. 10 6 PREWASH The machine performs a prewash cycle at 40°C max. The prewash cycle ends with a short spin in programmes for Cotton and Synthetics, and with emptying of the water without spinning for Delicates. After a programme which ends with water in the drum (RINSE HOLD option), turn the selector dial first to RESET and then to the PUMP OUT programme. Altering a programme which is running To alter a programme, first set the machine to PAUSE by pressing the START/PAUSE button. The selected options can be modified before the machine starts to perform them, i. e. tea cloths, towels, tablecloths, sheets. . . ) for normally soiled, colour fast garments (e. g. shirts, night dresses, pyjamas. . . . ) in linen, cotton or synthetic fibres and for lightly soiled white cotton (e. g. net curtains), mixed laundry including synthetic fibres and woollens bearing the label «pure new wool, machine washable, nonshrink». Cold 30°-40° Maximum loads Recommended loads are indicated in the programme charts. General rules: Cotton, linen: drum full but not too tightly packed; Synthetics: drum no more than half full; Delicate fabrics and woollens: drum no more than one third full. Washing a maximum load makes the most efficient use of water and energy. 13 ENGLISH Ink: depending on the type of ink, moisten the fabric first with acetone (*), then with acetic acid; treat any residual marks on white fabrics with bleach and then rinse thoroughly. Tar stains: first treat with stain remover, methylated spirits or benzine, then rub with detergent paste. (*) do not use acetone on artificial silk. Quantity of detergent to be used The type and quantity of detergent will depend on the type of fabric, load size, degree of soiling and hardness of the water used. Water hardness is classified in so-called "degrees" of hardness. Information on hardness of the water in your area can be obtained from the relevant water supply company, or from your local authority. Follow the product manufacturers' instructions on quantities to use. [. . . ] Should it not be possible to have access to the outlet hose because, for example, the appliance is built in the kitchen furniture, slightly loosen the outlet filter after placing a bowl on the floor, to let the water come out slowly. Frost precautions If the machine is installed in a place where the temperature could drop below 0°C, proceed as follows: · Close the water tap and unscrew the water inlet hose from the tap. · Place the end of the outlet hose and that of the inlet hose in a bowl placed on the floor. · Select the draining programme (PUMP OUT) and run it until the machine stops.
