If desired, a removable Secure Digital (SD) memory card can be used for additional storage. Internal memory is used for recording, deletion, and transfer only if no memory card is inserted. [. . . ] Page 12 of the User's Manual 8 Shooting Step 2 Ready the Camera Hold the camera steady in both hands, keeping your fingers and other objects away from the lens, built-in flash, AF-assist illuminator, and microphone. Modify composition by using the zoom control to zoom in for a close-up of the subject, or zoom out to include more of the background. Flash Mode The flash modes available are U (auto), V (auto with red-eye reduction), W (off), X (fill flash), Y (slow sync), and Z (Rear-curtain sync) modes. When the picture is too dark: adjust the exposure compensation to "+" side. When the picture is too bright: adjust the exposure compensation to "-" side. Page 34 of the User's Manual o +0. 3 Focus Mode Choose from A (Autofocus), B (Infinity) with which camera focuses on landscape at ranges of 5 m (16 ft. 5 in. ) or more, and D (Macro close-up) with which camera can focus as close as 4 cm (1. 6 in. ) to lens.
