Detailed instructions for use are in the User's Guide.

[. . . ] Then turn the focusing ring until the image on the focusing screen appears sharp. The tightening screw makes it difficult to accidentally move the focusing ring, but it does not lock it in place. The distance scale on the focusing ring is marked in both meters (white) and feet (yellow). [. . . ] Wipe in a circular motion from center to outer edge, taking care not to leave traces and not to touch the other lens parts. ⷠTo proterct the lens surface from dirt or damage, the use of an NC filter is recommended at all times. ⷠDo not splash water on the lens or drop it in the water because this will cause it to rust and malfunction. ⷠIf you will not use the lens for a long time, protect it from rust and mold by storing it in a cool, dry place. Also, do not store in direct sunlight, and keep it away from naphthalene or camphor. ⷠReinforced plastic is used for some parts of the lens exterior; to avoid damage, never leave the lens in an excessively hot place. No reproduction in any form of this manual, in whole or in part (except for brief quotation in critical articles or reviews), may be made without written authorization from NIKON CORPORATION. At close ranges (reproduction ratios greater than 1:10), the amount of light reaching the film decreases as the lens-to-film distance increases. When non-TTL measurement is used in these cases, photographs will be underexposed unless you have compensated for this decrease. 8 lens is used with the Nikon/Nikkormat or Photomic TTL meter, compensation is not necessary since the meter will give accurate readings of the amount of light reaching the film). The tables at the right give the exposure factors (compensation values) with exposure increases in f/stops for non-TTL exposure measurement at reproduction ratios greater than 1:10. If you don't want to increase aperture compensation more than one full f/stop, use slower shutter speeds. For example, for a 1:1 reproduction ratio, use 2-steps slower shutter speed and then open the lens by 1/4 stop, or use 3-steps slower shutter speed and then stop the lens down by 3/4 stop. Varius interchangeable focusing screens are available for Nikon F6-, F5-, F4-, and F3-series cameras to suit any type of lens or picture-taking situation. [. . . ] When mounting the lens on a camera body with a meter coupling lever (AI type), make sure that the lever is correctly positioned; when mounting on a camera body without this lever (non-AI type), "manual" maximum aperture indexing is required. Because the Close-Range Correction System is specifically designed for focusing at close distances rather than at medium to infinity, the Distance index line Entfernungs-Indexlinie Bague de mise au point Indice de escala de distancia Distance scale Entfernungsskala Echelle de distance Escala de distancia Lens in normal position Lens in normal position Focused distance Reproduction ratio Subject field * The first values are for the K1-ring used alone and the second ones for five rings used together. ** The first values are for the PK-1 or PK-11 A/PK-11 ring used alone and the second ones for three rings (PK-1PK-3 or PK-11A/PK-11 PK-13) used together.
