The reference manuals for this camera consist of the following two guides. To ensure correct and safe use of the camera, please read the manuals before using the camera and refer to them whenever necessary during use. Basic manual Contains instructions for setup and some for basic operations. We recommend first-time users to read this manual first. Reference manual (this manual) Contains a description of all the camera functions. Use this manual to get the most out of all the features and functions of your camera. Viewing still pictures Pictures are displayed in sequence at approximately three second intervals. Press the OK button to stop the slideshow. Playback mode settings You are recommended to use the AC adapter when running a slideshow for a long period of time. If the battery is used, the camera will stop the slideshow after about 30 minutes and turn off. 103 Playback on a TV You can play back images on a TV. Use the AV cable provided with the camera to connect the camera to the TV and play back images. Select NTSC or PAL according to your TV video signal type. TV video signal types in same regions NTSC: North America, Taiwan, Korea, Japan PAL: European countries, China Press the OK button in the playback mode. 4 Viewing still pictures The first menu is displayed. Viewing still pictures A/V OUT: Abbreviation for the audio and video output jacks (Audio/Video Out). A/V OUT jack AV cable Playback mode settings Plug the AV cable into the TV video (yellow) and audio (white) input jacks. AV cable (white) AV cable (yellow) For information on your TV audio/video input jacks, refer to your manual of the TV. Press q to turn the camera on. Press q to turn the camera off before removing the AV cable. 106 Playback mode settings Displaying shooting information ( ) This function changes the shooting information displayed on the monitor. H INFO is turned on and the full amount of shooting information is displayed. 2272 1704 04 03 To turn INFO off, repeat steps 1 and 2. 107 Editing still pictures Creating black and white pictures This function enables you to convert selected pictures into black and white pictures and store them as new pictures. While in playback mode, display the picture you want to convert into black and white. g"Playback" (P. 96) Press the OK button. The first menu is displayed. 4 Viewing still pictures Press to go to the MODE MENU. INFO MODE MENU ERASE Press or EDIT tab. Press to select the SET CARD EDIT PLAY SET CARD EDIT PLAY BLACK & WHITE SEPIA to go to the EDIT menu. Press or & WHITE. to select BLACK BLACK & WHITE SEPIA Press to go to the BLACK & WHITE settings. 108 Creating black and white pictures Press to select BLACK & WHITE. BLACK & WHITE BLACK & WHITE CANCEL EXIT SELECT GO Press the OK button to create the black and white picture. Once the black and white picture is created, it is stored as a new picture. BUSY 4 Viewing still pictures A new picture cannot be created if the card is full. 109 Editing still pictures Creating sepia-toned pictures This function enables you to convert selected pictures into sepia-toned pictures and store them as new pictures. While in playback mode, display the picture you want to convert into sepia color. g"Playback" (P. 96) Press the OK button. The first menu is displayed. 4 Viewing still pictures Press to go to the MODE MENU. INFO MODE MENU ERASE Press or EDIT tab. Press to select the SET CARD EDIT PLAY SET CARD EDIT PLAY BLACK & WHITE SEPIA to go to the EDIT menu. 110 Editing still pictures Press or to select SEPIA. BLACK & WHITE SEPIA Press to go to the SEPIA settings. Creating sepia-toned pictures Press to select SEPIA. SEPIA SEPIA CANCEL EXIT SELECT GO Press the OK button to create the sepia-toned picture. Once the sepia-toned picture is created, it is stored as a new picture. BUSY 4 Viewing still pictures A new picture cannot be created if the card is full. 111 Editing still pictures Changing the size ( ) This function enables you to change the file size of selected pictures and store them as new pictures. This is useful when you want to reduce the volume of image data, such as when posting pictures on the Internet or attaching them to e-mail. You can choose from two file sizes, 640 × 480 and 320 × 240. While in playback mode, display the picture you want to resize. g"Playback" (P. 96) 4 Viewing still pictures Press the OK button. The first menu is displayed. Press to go to the MODE MENU. INFO MODE MENU ERASE SET CARD EDIT PLAY 112 Editing still pictures Press or EDIT tab. Press to select the BLACK & WHITE SEPIA to go to the EDIT menu. Changing the size (Q) Press or to select Q. SET CARD EDIT PLAY BLACK & WHITE SEPIA Press to go to the resize settings. Press or picture size. to select the 640 480 320 240 CANCEL EXIT SELECT GO 4 Viewing still pictures Press the OK button to create the resized picture. Once the image is resized, it is stored as a new picture. BUSY Editing still pictures A new picture cannot be created if the card is full. 113 Protecting pictures ( ) You can protect important pictures to avoid accidentally erasing them. Protected pictures cannot be erased by the single-frame/all-frame erase function. Formatting erases both unprotected and protected pictures. While in playback mode, display the picture you want to protect. g"Playback" (P. 96) 4 Viewing still pictures Press the OK button. The first menu is displayed. Press to go to the MODE MENU. INFO MODE MENU ERASE 114 SET CARD EDIT Editing still pictures Press or PLAY tab. Press to select the PLAY OFF 0° to go to the PLAY menu. Protecting pictures (0) Press or to select 0. SET CARD EDIT PLAY OFF 0° Press to go to the protection settings. Press or to select ON and press the OK button. The selected picture is protected. $04. 03. 17 15:30 4 Viewing still pictures 9 is displayed on the screen. To cancel protection, select OFF. 9mark 115 Editing still pictures Erasing pictures Single-frame erase ( ) Digital cameras let you erase pictures that you do not want to keep. When you erase an unwanted picture, the number of pictures you can take increases. You can also erase all the pictures stored on the card. g"All-frame erase" (P. 117) All pictures are erased except protected pictures. g"Protecting pictures" (P. 114) 4 Viewing still pictures Once erased, pictures cannot be restored. While in playback mode, display the picture you want to erase. g"Playback" (P. 96) Press the OK button. The first menu is displayed. Press to select R ERASE. INFO MODE MENU ERASE Press to select YES. ERASE YES Press the OK button. The picture displayed on the monitor is erased. SELECT NO GO 116 All-frame erase This function erases all pictures. ( ) All pictures are erased except protected pictures. g"Protecting pictures" (P. 114) Once erased, pictures cannot be restored. Press the OK button in the playback mode. SELECT YES NO GO 118 Erasing pictures Shooting Recording movies Recording movies You can record movies as well as still pictures with this camera. [. . . ] Leave the camera for approximately one hour until the camera adjusts to the temperature difference. 219 Camera maintenance How to replace the battery (CR2025) of the remote control device Turn the screw on the bottom of the remote control device counterclockwise to loosen. Turn the remote control device over, and remove the cover. With the battery facing up, remove the old battery and insert a new battery (CR2025) as shown. Replace the cover, turn the remote control device over, and turn the screw on the bottom clockwise to tighten.
