When the light stays on (after approximately 2 minutes), the steam is ready for use. · The first time the appliance is used, there may be fumes and smell but this is not harmful, will not affect use and will disappear rapidly. [. . . ] Recommendations: For fabrics other than linen or cotton, hold the iron a few centimetres from the garment to avoid burning the fabric. 8- TURBO STEAM FUNCTION (depending on the model) Press 2 or 3 times on the burst of steam control to obtain a more powerful turbo steam 9 : · for ironing thicker fabrics, · to eliminate creases, · for powerful vertical steaming. Be careful : use turbo steam function very carefuly because of the exceptional power of steam that may cause burns. Notice D/FR/NL/GB/I089764 23/07/01 15:00 Page 24 9- CARING FOR YOUR STEAM GENERATOR · Be careful, ensure that the appliance is not plugged in and the sole plate has cooled down before cleaning. · Do not use detergent or descaling products to clean the soleplate or steam generator tank. · Never put the iron or base under the tap · Do not place the iron on a metal rest as this could damage it. Place it on the iron-rest on the base: it has non-slip pads and has been designed to with stand high temperatures 1. Regularly clean the soleplate with a damp, plastic, non-metallic washing up pad. If you are using starch, it should be sprayed onto the reverse side of the fabric to be ironed. Clean the plastic parts of the appliance occasionally with a slightly damp cloth. 10- PUTTING YOUR STEAM GENERATOR AWAY 1. 4. Tidy away the iron-base cord by making a loop passing over the front of the generator and then fastening the cord in the clip 12 . Note :You do not have to empty the water tank each time. 11- RINSING OUT THE STEAM GENERATOR TANK Be careful: · To ensure that the steam generator tank continues to function efficiently and avoid scale being discharged, the steam generator tank must be rinsed out once in every 10 times it is used. · Do not under any circumstance use descalers for rinsing the steam generator tank : this could damage it. Check that the steam generator is cold, is unplugged for more than 2 hours prior to cleaning and the water tank is empty. Shake the base for a few moments and then empty completely over a sink or bucket 15 . Replace and tighten up the steam generator plug, without filling up again. [. . . ] s Press on the steam control away from the ironing table until the iron gives out steam. The steam generator indicator does not light up. The iron and base indicators are not switched on. s Water is dripping from the holes in the soleplate. s You are using steam at too low a temperature or before the iron is sufficiently hot. Water has condensed in the pipes because you are using steam for the first time or you have not used it for a while. s Whitish water is being discharged through the holes in the soleplate. s The steam generator tank is discharging scale because it has not been regularly rinsed. s s You are using chemical descaler products or additives in the water used for ironing. Rinse the steam generator tank once in every 10 times it is used. s s Never use this type of product in the steam generator tank (follow our recommendations on the water to use) Brownish water is dripping from the holes in the soleplate and may stain the laundry. s s The soleplate is dirty or brown and is soiling the laundry. You are using a temperature setting that is too high. s Your washing has not been adequately rinsed or you are using starch. s s The steam generator tank is not on or the water tank light comes on when there is still water in the tank.
