When using the sewing machine, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following: Read all instructions before using. Always unplug the sewing machine from the electrical outlet immediately after using and before cleaning. Do not place or store sewing machine where it can fall or be pulled into a tub or sink. [. . . ] Thick fabric sewing (Particularly Denim) When sewing thick fabric or the thick part of the fabric as shown in (fig B), it is important to sew slowly and use the proper needle size (refer page 63). Sew on the fold, so that straight stitches are made on the hem edge, and the zigzag just catches only one or two threads of fold.
